Laminate and Formica are a special material that can be constructed by uniting two or more layers of material together. The process of creating a laminate is lamination, which refers to the placing of something between layers of plastic and gluing them with heat and/or pressure, usually with an adhesive. With the Laminate countertops, you now can have the flawless undermount integral sink! No more sink edge to deal with!
Solid Surface is a man-made material composed of bauxite, acrylic, or polyester resins and pigments. Solid surface is a non-porous low-maintenance countertop surface. As a man-made product it has the ability to mimic the appearance of stone, wood and other naturally occurring materials, yet can be joined invisibly by a trained craftsman. Should the material become scratched or broken, solid surface can, in most cases, be repaired quickly by a trained fabricator.
Quartz is a composite material combining rock and resin. It is used primarily for kitchen countertops. Related materials include geopolymers and cast stone. The material is factory made in slabs, cut and polished by fabricators, and assembled at the work site. Quartz products are gaining in popularity and are sometimes preferred over granite products because engineered stone requires less maintenance and compared to unsealed granite, has better resistance to stains and bacterial contamination.
Granite is a fine to coarse-grained, igneous rock formed by volcanic action consisting of quartz, feldspar, and mica, with accessory minerals. Granite-type rocks include those of similar texture and origin. Granite is one of the hardest materials on earth. Used as a countertop material, it is resistant to scratches, acids, stains and heat. It is long lasting, durable and available in a wide variety of colors, textures and unique crystal patterns that create a warm and inviting environment for your kitchen or bath.
Soapstone is unmatched in its natural beauty and is the perfect solution for homeowners and designers wanting to get away from the ubiquitous, shiny granites. Soapstone will not burn. Stop worrying about setting a hot pot or pan down on your soapstone countertops or fumbling with hot pads. Move your cookware freely from the cook top or oven directly onto your soapstone countertops, without ever scorching or burning your soapstone. Soapstone will not stain. You only need to treat it once in awhile with a special mineral oil to enhance the natural darkening process all soapstone goes through.
Soapstone will not harbor bacteria. As the densest natural stone countertop, soapstone is the safest stone countertop for your family. It is the ONLY natural stone countertop that does not require a chemical sealer.
Easy to clean. Soapstone is siliceous, meaning it is unaffected and unharmed by acids contained in everyday items like wine, lemons, or vinegar. You won’t need to purchase special cleaners, either. Any household cleaner does the trick!
